  • This Saturday, Traxx will take over the decks at New Dance City, a conceptual dance party at 285 Kent. The event is a throwback to the days of musical variety TV shows like Soul Train and The New Dance Show. The party space will be decked out with a catwalk and pedestals for guests to show off their dance moves, and local public broadcast producers E.S.P. TV will be on hand to film the action with VHS cameras. Their footage, mixed with old school analog effects, will be projected live at the party and broadcast later on local public access television. Traxx tops the DJ portion of the night's bill while Vidrio, one half of the veteran Detroit electro duo Ultradyne, will play live. Ron Morelli and Steve Summers, both of the local L.I.E.S. label, will also play sets, along with Meridian 7. Halloween costumes are encouraged, and a filmed dance contest is scheduled for 1:00 AM.
