- Minus will release the Canadian artist's first album in February.
Hobo will release his first album, Iron Triangle, in February on Minus.
Joel Boychuk has been part of the Minus family since 2007, first as half of the duo Tractile, then on his own as Hobo. In that time his output has been limited to just a handful of scattered EPs, making Iron Triangle his most substantial body of work so far. According to the man himself, the album has strong autobiographical elements: its title refers to three iron train lines that connect the different parts of Canada and the US he used to call home, and every song draws from his memories within this triangle.
Boychuk explains: "At the end of 2010 I had been away from the triangle for much longer than usual and mentally I was as far away as ever. I reflected on past experiences and looked forward to new ones as inspiration for the album: All of the tracks are based around experiences I've had at this place, sometimes just an image or memory."
