  • Still Going, AKA Eric Duncan and Liv Spencer, will release a new single called D117 next month on their new label, Still Going Records. After two releases on DFA, including the 2007 hit Still Going Theme, the New York duo is gearing up for a busy 2012. Eric Duncan, AKA Dr. Dunks and one half of Rub N Tug, has been a staple of the New York club scene for years. Liv Spencer works as a remixer, producer and sound designer and is also part of the duo House of House. It's been around two years since the pair offered up their last release on DFA, but they say the time between 12-inches will only get shorter once Still Going Records launches. Chatting via email this week, we spoke with Duncan and Spencer about their new label and the first two releases they've got in the pipeline.
Why did you decide to start the Still Going label? We saw this as a natural progression both creatively and business-wise. We're sitting on a lot of original or unreleased Still Going material and figured we'd have more control over output on our own label. The label also provides a potential home for our other projects (House Of House and Rub N Tug) and also gives us the opportunity to spread our wings as producers in terms of signing and producing new and existing talent here in NYC and abroad. What are some of the upcoming releases on the label and can you tell us a little bit about them? We're starting with Still Going originals. The first single, D117, is set for mid-February release. The song has a spacey techno/disco vibe and features our friends Lizzy Yoder (formerly of Fischerspooner) and LCD Soundsystem's Pat Mahoney. The 2nd single, Work That Shit Party, will drop shortly thereafter. That one is more of a club burner and once again features Pat and Lizzy. What's the release schedule for 2012? We're hoping to stay on a steady release schedule with new singles every four to six weeks. The material we're working on hits on many styles of dance music, which reflects the broad range of sounds we're into. I guess the decision to separate Still Going from DFA was a natural one? We felt it was time to do it ourselves seeing as we have the resources and know-how. The DFA family are good friends of ours. We're not shutting any doors here, just opening a new one.
