- The reissued album is available today on vinyl, with upcoming remixes by Ricardo Villalobos, Vince Watson, 2000 and One and more.
100% Pure have put together a remastered and remixed version of Secret Life of Machines, Steve Rachmad's classic techno album as Sterac.
Secret Life of Machines was a breakthrough on many fronts: for Rachmad as a producer, for the label 100% Pure, and to some extent for Dutch techno itself. "It was a fresh thrilling sound and we were blown away by the Detroit techno futuristic flavours," recalls label boss Dylan Hermelijn (AKA 2000 and One). "Not only was it going to be Steve's first album but it was a first album for 100% Pure and it immediately gave the label international visibility." The LP laid a blueprint for melodic techno that still holds up 17 years later.
The album will be reissued in a few different forms over the course of the summer. The remastered version is available as of today on vinyl, with a CD and digital version to follow on June 25th, complete with a few remixes. Two remix EPs will be released in August. The first includes reworks by Joel Mull, Heiko Laux, Marc Romboy and Samuel Session among others. The second features 2000 & One, Ricardo Villalobos, Joris Voorn, Christian Smith and Vince Watson. Both will be available digitally and on vinyl, with many of the tracks available only in digital form.
