  • Vancouver's Crab Park will play host to an outdoor house and techno party on August 19th. Nestled on the waterfront on the northern outskirts of downtown Vancouver's Gastown and Chinatown neighbourhoods, Crab Park will be the location for the second 2012 installment of Vancouver Urban Spaces Initiative's "Special" series. The first took place this past July in New Brighton Park, highlighting local house crew Leisure. This particular event will feature Seattle's Slowpoke DJs, who, as their name would suggest, are associated with leisurely disco and house that resides in the lower reaches of the tempo range. This will be their first time playing in Vancouver. Also confirmed are Edmonton DJ and Danksoul label boss Bron, Vancouver Island's Koosh, and local Vancouver techno denizens MITIM and Scott W. The event will start in the afternoon at 2:00 PM and run until the late evening at 9:00 PM, and will be followed by a third Special in New Brighton Park in September as part of the city's New Forms Festival.
