The Berlin staple will release his fifth album in October on Poker Flat.
Steve Bug is ready to release a new album called Noir.
According to a press release, the Berlin staple was tempted to make his latest LP a concept album, but eventually pulled back from the idea. "That?s not the way I work," he says. "My music expresses my moods, and of course, they are always changing." As such, the album is heavily influenced by the dark and mysterious feeling of film noir, but at the same time isn't restricted by that aesthetic. It was produced over a period of three years, meaning Bug began production not long after the release of his last album, Collaboratory. Aside from one instance where an electric guitar is used, Bug specifically avoided relying on live instruments. He explains: "The results have never convinced me. You have to find musicians who understand repetitive music, otherwise the whole thing is so watery."
Noir is the Poker Flat boss's fifth studio album. It mostly features new tracks, plus the recently released "Tell Me Why" and "Those Grooves." That's the video for "Tell Me Why" below.
