The drum & bass artist will release his first album in five years via Photek Productions this month.
Born Rupert Parkes, Photek has been making music for dance floors since 1994. The last few years, though, have seen him move away from the forward-leaning drum & bass that made him famous, instead seeing him spend time working on film scores while incorporating more of a house feel to his dance music productions. According to Photek himself, KU:PALM reflects not only Photek's widening stylistic palette, but that of the scene itself: "The last few years completely changed," he says of the environment that coaxed him back into producing for the club. "There's a real freedom and excitement in bass music once again." The album mixes recent singles like "Aviator" and "Sleepwalking" with previously unreleased material.
