- The dubstep producer will release his third full-length in December.
Starkey will release Orbits on December 3rd.
The Philadelphia-based dubstep and grime producer has released his past albums on UK institution Planet Mu, but his third will come on London's Civil Music, the label that delivered his recent Space Traitor EPs. Much like the former RA podcaster's previous work, Orbits has a heavy emphasis on sci-fi themes. Continuing with the style he's dubbed "street bass," Orbits reportedly features "huge drums, southern rap-style hi-hats and Vangelis-like fizzing synths." The LP comes during a busy time for PJ Geissinger, after an EP on Ninja Tune, production work for Foreign Beggars, Tinie Tempah and others, and a hectic touring schedule.
Unlike the collaboration-heavy Space Traitor releases, all tracks on Orbits are Starkey solo productions with no guest appearances. The record will be preceded by an EP for the track "Command" on October 29th, with remixes from Plastician, Drums of Death, Noisses, Pedro123, DS1 and Buku plus an unreleased track called "Contact."
