Thrill Jockey will release the ambient duo's next LP in January.
The new LP shows Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp continuing to perfect their organic approach to electronic ambient music. According to the press release, the duo took a new production approach in recording the album, layering purely electronic sounds (synthesizers, modular electronics) on top of purely acoustic sounds (cello, guitar, organs, electric piano), rather than using the former to manipulate the latter. The entire thing was recorded at Telescope Recordings in Brooklyn, aside from two songs, "Propeller" and "Liana," which combine live concert recordings with studio instrumentation. As with their past two albums, it will see release on Thrill Jockey.
