- The Detroit producer will release his first full-length through Wild Oats.
Kyle Hall has announced details of his debut album, The Boat Party, due out in April on his own Wild Oats label.
Since debuting on Omar S's FXHE label as a 15-year-old back in 2007, the Detroit artist has developed a dexterous approach to production that combines classic deep house, jazz and beatdown elements with a tough, experimental edge. The bulk of Hall's solo material has come out on his own label, although he has appeared with solo EPs on UK imprints Hyperdub and Third Ear, as well as Detroit's Moods & Grooves. His remix commissions to date have seen him turn a hand to tracks from Darkstar, Emika, Dennis Ferrer, Jimmy Edgar and Space Dimension Controller among others.
In 2012 Hall put out a number of singles through Wild Oats, including collaborations with FunkinEven (as FunkinEvil) and Detroit Underground Records chief Kero, as well as records from MGUN and Anthony Shake Shakir. As Juno Plus report, Hall has described The Boat Party as a "fusion of original work, sample tracks, and raw edits," with the seven-track album set to be released on double LP format.
