Former Area residents Justin Strauss and Johnny Dynell will play the DFA synth master's new party on the Lower East Side tonight.
The party, based at The DL on Manhattan's Lower East Side, is a collaboration between the DFA synth master and Abracadabra's Seva Gravik. Russom told RA the concept is "to create a night that brings different worlds of New York together" for "a fun and potentially wild and hopefully weird Thursday." The series kicked off last week with a handful of DFA-affiliated acts. This week, the guests are a couple of New York music scene lifers. Justin Strauss, a veteran of classic New York spots like Mudd Club, Limelight and Area, will be joined by fellow former Area resident Johnny Dynell. According to Russom, tonight will be the first time the two have played together since their days at that club.
