  • LEAF, short for London Electronic Arts Festival, will hit the capital for the first time in November. Via a series of talks, screenings, workshops and performances running Thursday, November 7th through 10th, LEAF will "explore and reclaim the legacy of London as a pioneering figure in the global electronic music movement." Various events will be spread across the city, with the LEAF HUB (located at the Shoreditch Electric Light Station) acting as the festival's base. In conjunction with leading UK promoters SJM Concerts, LEAF will stage shows in some of the city's premier venues, with Major Lazer, Trentemøller and The Bloody Beetroots all confirmed. Below, LEAF creators Rob Da Bank and IMS founder Ben Turner outline their reasons for the project: "London has defined a genre. It may not have invented electronic music, but it gave it a global focal point for decades. Its influence from DJs to parties, flyers to technology platforms has been pivotal to the durability and the inventiveness of this scene. LEAF aims to bring all of this together for the very first time in the capital. This is our way of giving something back to a city that helped shape our entire working lives." Other highlights include conversations with Giorgio Moroder and New Order, who will speak on the influence of Ibiza on their 1989 Technique album. Dinos Chapman, of Chapman Brothers fame, will showcase an AV installation of his latest project, Luftbobler, and the LEAF HUB will host a one-off Boiler Room party featuring Eats Everything, MK and Rob Da Bank. Omar Souleyman, Arthur Baker, William Orbit and Horse Meat Disco will also feature.
