I:Cube, Henrik Schwarz and STL all appear on the extensive package that commemorates a decade in the business for the Soho record shop.
Phonica Records have announced details of a 33-track compilation called Ten Years Of Phonica.
Since it opened in September 2003 on Poland Street in Soho, Phonica has been one of London's most on-point record shops, consistently moving with the times while maintaining a strong element of curation. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the shop—which has also been running its own labels for a few years now—will release a compilation on triple-vinyl, digital and triple-CD.
The first two CDs feature new tracks spanning the same kind of material you'd find in the shop, with veterans like Joe Claussell and John Morales appearing alongside cult favourites STL, I:Cube, Juju & Jordash, Legowelt and Mr. G, with some under-the-radar selections from Moire and Panoram thrown in. The third CD pulls together tracks previously released on Phonica's own labels alongside a couple of unheard cuts, with Midland, Lord Of The Isles and Kassem Mosse & Mix Mup all featuring. The triple-vinyl version features 12 tracks. Three 12-inch samplers will also be released separately.
A launch party will be held on Saturday, February 15th, at Vauxhall venue Fire, with Henrik Schwarz, Kassem Mosse, Appleblim and Midland among the names on the bill. Tickets are available here on RA.
