- The latest release from the prolific Montreal ambient artist is pitched as his first LP, due out on Debacle next month.
Hobo Cubes will release an album this February called Apex Ideals.
The Montreal-based ambient artist, real name Francesco De Gallo, has released prolifically since starting the project in 2009. Most of his droning, highly textural compositions have come out on cassette, through his own Hobo Cult label as well asfar-out electronic labels like Opal Tapes, NNA Tapes and Digitalis Limited. Seattle's Debacle Records, for whom De Gallo released the Timeless/Mindless CDR back in 2011, will release Apex Ideals, and it's Hobo Cubes' first LP in earnest. Produced by fellow traveler Christian Richer and featuring artwork by Jesse Osborne-Lanthier, De Gallo's partner in crime in the duo The H, the album finds Hobo Cubes building emotion-rich, subtly rhythmic soundscapes from time-stretched sounds. The album will be available digitally and on vinyl.
