The event series, unfolding over North America this spring, will bring DJs to "step away from bombastic bottle service."
Embrace Presents have teamed up with Liaison Agency to produce the Apex Tour, starting on April 12th in Chicago.
Billed as a reaction to the explosion of EDM in the US, the Apex Tour has a self-described mission to "[revert] to the founding ethos of dance music in America," focusing on spaces without bottle service and other nightclub trappings. Each date has a different lineup, with DJs getting the chance to play extended sets in more malleable time slots.
The series will begin in Chicago at the Lacuna Loft with Dixon (RA's #1 DJ of 2013) and Maceo Plex on April 12th, and from there it'll head through a Canadian leg in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, wrapping up April in Denver. Life and Death associates DJ Tennis and Thugfucker will play the Vancouver gig at Electric Owl, while Maya Jane Coles, Magda, James Holden are booked in various configurations for the other three.
Apex's May leg will feature Justin Martin, Catz 'N Dogz, Danny Daze, Michael Mayer and Thugfucker again, this time stopping in NYC, Seattle, LA, San Francisco and, finally, Miami on May 16th. The LA show will also feature Tale Of Us, Joy Orbison and Blond:ish.
Tickets for the ChicagoToronto, Seattle, LA and San Francisco dates are available on RA.
