- The German electronic music magazine says its next issue will "probably" be its last.
De:Bug, the Berlin-based culture and electronic music magazine, may be on the brink of closure.
A message posted today on the magazine's blog said: "The next edition of De: Bug will probably be the last. No, not a joke. Time to say goodbye." No specific reasons are given aside from a general reference to "the dramas experienced currently in print." It's not clear exactly what will happen next. "Will [De:Bug] continue online? We really hope so," the message says. "We ask for your patience until we know how and if [the magazine] will continue."
De:Bug was founded in 1997 by Sascha Kösch, Benjamin Weiss and Riley Reinhold. For the past 16 years, it has covered what it calls "elektronischen Lebensaspekten," or "the electronic aspects of life." The monthly magazine has published (by their own count) over 50,000 reviews and has long been a cult favourite in Berlin and elsewhere in Germany.
