  • Sugar City will host a screening of Elektro Moskva at their headquarters in Buffalo on Wednesday, March 25th. The documentary, which has been shown at festivals like MUTEK in Mexico and Diagonale in Austria, tells the story of Russian electronic music since the 1920s. Directed by Elena Tikhonova and Dominik Spritzendorfer, Elektro Moskva touches on a diversity of stories, from the "invention of the world's first electronic instrument by Leon Theremin in 1928, to avant garde musicians of the 1970s… to modern day circuit-benders in cramped Moscow flats," according to organizers from the Buffalo art space Sugar City. You can watch the trailer below. The screening will be accompanied by a live performance from local band The Actors, who will perform their original score to a montage of short films made between 1895 and 1913.
