Count Ossie, Horace Andy and Dinosaur L feature on the upcoming releases.

London label Soul Jazz Records has announced its plans for early 2016.

Soul Jazz, known especially for its extensive archival reggae releases, will start off the year focusing on drummer and bandleader Count Ossie and his band, The Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari. Ossie, among the first to bring the Niyabinghi style of hand drumming to record, originally dropped Tales Of Mozambique in 1975, and the label will make that album available again next month. The next release also focuses on '70s reggae. Studio One Showcase, The Sound Of Studio Now In The 1970s features a track from Count Ossie and Mystic Revelation member Cedric Im Brooks, as well as songs from Horace Andy, Myrna Hague and Prince Jazzbo.

February sees the imprint swing back to one its other primary areas of interest: American punk and no wave (and related music) from the late '70s and early '80s. First up is a repress of the venerated New York Noise compilation. The original version dropped in 2003, taking survey of the heady downtown NYC milieu of the early '80s with cuts from Arthur Russell's Dinosaur L, ESG, Liquid Liquid as well as no wave acts like DNA and Mars. The new version will contain four bonus tracks. Around the same time, Soul Jazz will issue the sixth volume of their Punk 45 series, set to focus on the stranger side of the early LA scene.
