  • Eternal Dragonz has dropped its first release, an EP called Karaoke Vol. 1. The international crew are "united by the aesthetics, experience, food and understand particular to the experience of growing up East in the West," according to their press release. It's largely inspired by the aZn PrYde internet subculture that was prevalent in the '90s, which was started by young people of Asian descent growing up in Western countries. Their first release, Karaoke Vol. 1, also doubles as a interactive website designed by Eric Hu. The EP is "pop and club music reimagined through the speakers of a hazy neon noraebang (karaoke room)," mashing up dance tracks with clips of Asian pop stars ripped from YouTube videos. This first instalment features Australia's Victoria Kim and Strict Face, Organ Tapes from London and Malaysia's Moslem Priest. The EP will be followed by a journal edited by Lucy Chinen and Jenny Yoo that focuses on "'Asianess' as it might be defined through layers of media and generational changes." You can stream all four tracks below, and download it for free from their website.
