  • Shit Robot will release his third album for DFA Records, What Follows on May 6th. Marcus Lambkin began writing the album at his home in Stuttgart, eventually bringing it to DFA label mate Juan Maclean's studio in New Hampshire for mixing. The new LP features collaborations with Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor and some other members of the DFA Family—Nancy Whang, Museum of Love—as well as fellow Dublin native New Jackson and punk singer Jay Green. “This record is a lot more analog than We Got A Love," Lambkin says, referring to his 2014 LP. "Almost all of it comes from connecting machines together and playing around.” In between those first sessions of writing What Follows at home and mixing in New Hampshire, Lambkin made stops at a few different studios to try out different equipment and get input from producers:
I began in Stuttgart, simply by creating about 12 drum loops. I then synched these up to some gear and created some bass lines so I had some solid grooves to start with. Then I went to NY and spent a couple of days at Holy Ghost's studio playing around with Nick and his modular synth coming up with different sequences and sounds. I then took all this over to Transmitter Park Studios in Greenpoint and spent a few days with the wizard that is Morgan Wiley of Midnight Magic and Tippy Toes.
It includes a new version of "OB-8," which DFA included on a 12-inch that came out last month. They'll premiere the album's single tomorrow, March 2nd, on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show. It'll be followed by a remix from Roman Flügel on March 10th. Tracklist 01. In Love feat. Alexis Taylor 02. What Follows feat. Museum Of Love 03. Ten Miles High 04. Lose Control feat. Nancy Whang 05.
