  • AVA Festival has announced speakers for the conference portion of their event on Saturday, June 4th. They shared their music lineup in January. The daylong gathering—which goes down at T13 Belfast—emphasizes Ireland's homegrown house and techno talent, with a handful of international headliners as well, like Rødhåd and Gerd Janson. Today they came out with names for the conference side of the festival, which includes talks with Juan Atkins (speaking on the origins of techno) and Irish duo Bicep, who will speak about the new live show they're unveiling at the festival. Other talks include "Life After Dark: The Creative and Economic Value of Club Culture" as well as "Pushing the Dial on Women in Electronic Music" and a forum on current music technology with Ableton, Pioneer and Native Instruments. There will also be a record fair and a street food market. All daytime talks will be free to attend, though advanced registration is required. Tickets for the music portion of AVA are available on RA.
