  • The always-busy San Francisco label Dark Entries is readying a reissue of the 1980 compilation Household Shocks. Household Shocks first came through Stark Products, a label from Scunthorpe run by One Gang Logic duo Paul Singleton and Chris Leaning. The compilation, highlighting the DIY synth, post-punk and new wave scene in Scunthorpe and around the north of England, brought together 16 total tracks from One Gang Logic and eight friends' bands. It earned the praise of legendary Radio 1 DJ John Peel, and in the decades since it's become a highly sought-after (and almost prohibitively expensive) piece of wax. Dark Entries' reissued, remastered version of Household Shocks will feature replicas of the original jacket design and double-sided insert. It's due for an early-May release, and before then you can try out samples of the whole thing below. A dozen records have already come through Dark Entries this year, including Bill Converse's Meditations/Industry album, Frak's Sudden Haircut EP, and Crash Course In Science's (RA-recommended) Jump Over Barrels EP.
