Bears In Space will bring San Francisco DJ Solar to LA for an extended set at Akbar on May 15th.
The party is a venture of busy LA promoters and DJs Chris Bowen and Victor Rodriguez, who also put on the Cub Scout monthly. Bears In Space is a 12-hour indoor and outdoor party which starts in the parking lot of Silver Lake gay watering hole Akbar before moving into the club.
For their season opener, they've booked in Solar, who has spent the better part of 2016 jetting around the US and Europe for gigs. A founding member of Bay Area crew Sunset Sound System, he's formed close alliances with respected outfits like Innervisions (he'll support Âme on a couple of dates this weekend) and Dekmantel (he's playing both the festival proper as well as the digger-oriented Selectors event). LA DJ and record collector Dirty Dave rounds out the May bill.
