Matthew Herbert will release A Nude via his Accidental Records label on July 1st.
Herbert recorded the album using the sounds produced by a naked body over the course of 24 hours. "During that time, the body does everything that humans do," the label writes. "It eats, sleeps, washes, wees, trims, wanks, moves, poos and so on." The 24 hours of audio were condensed and organized into eight tracks, which range in length from several minutes to an hour long.
"Each of these musical pieces are poses," the label continues, adding that the tracks are "distillations or meditations where the body itself is the soloist and Herbert the frame and canvas." A Nude is Herbert's latest in a long line of conceptual efforts, including his recent Edible Sounds project, where he laser-etched audio grooves into a tortilla, cheese, eggplant slice and other food items.
