  • Michael Eavis, founder of Glastonbury Festival, is in talks with Longleat estate about moving the event to a new site. Speaking to ITV News yesterday, Eavis said that he'd like to move to the grounds of the English stately home in 2019, but that "we haven't come to an agreement yet" and there's still a "long way to go." He added that Glastonbury's current site, Worthy Farm, "is very warm, it's full of atmosphere and character and history as well, but I really do need an alternative site, no doubt about it." Eavis's statements contradict claims made earlier this week in The Guardian by Emily Eavis—Michael's daughter and a key member of the Glastonbury team—that say the organisers are planning a new festival in a different location, but that Glastonbury proper will remain at Worthy Farm. "We are going to do a show somewhere else with the same team behind Glastonbury but it hasn't got a name yet and we're still not entirely sure what shape it's going to take," she said. In the meantime, Glastonbury 2016 will go ahead as planned at Worthy Farm, running from June 22nd through 26th. Check out the extensive lineup here.
