- The UK label will release an LP from M. Geddes Gengras' techno project this month.
Opal Tapes will release Oyster, the new full-length from M. Geddes Gengras' Personable alias, on June 24th.
The LA modular synthesist tends to keep a number of projects on the go, but he debuted his odd, dance floor-oriented Personable project in 2012 with Alternate/Other, also released on Opal. He followed on that with a couple of full-lengths for Peak Oil. Opal says the new one trots through grime and garage influences while also likening the record to Oval and Richard Chartier's Pinkcourtesyphone. The label text, presumably written by Opal founder Stephen Bishop, says "every time I listen to Personable I'm hearing someone who approaches their instruments as a player, no concepts or grand ideas, just playing a synthesiser and doing it so well."
Late June also sees the label, which specializes in mutant dance forms, release a second album from Kaumwald, Rapa Nui Clan. There isn't much info about the duo, but the label describes them as "a hard act to define, unifying the tabletop thrift attack of AMM or early Wolf Eyes against bold modular-driven beats rich with crust." There isn't a tracklist for that one yet.
