  • Martin Jenkins—AKA Head Technician and Pye Corner Audio—will reissue his 2015 album Zones on Ecstatic Recordings this Friday. Jenkins emerged in 2010 with the first volume of Black Mill Tapes, a four-part collection of hypnotic techno and ambient music. His 2015 album Zones—recorded under the name Head Technician—came out as limited tape run via Ecstatic Recordings, the label run by Italian artist Alessio Natalizia, AKA Not Waving. Now they've pressed it to vinyl for the reissue. Ecstatic calls it "a slippery set of slow, plasmic acid workouts" that bridge the gap between "fuzzy dancefloor head melt and curtains-drawn next day gouch out." The LP was recorded with three iconic pieces of retro gear: the Roland TR-606 drum machine as well as the MC-202 and TB-303 synthesizers. "It’s really satisfying to set up patterns on each machine, let them run and tweak and adjust as the track unfolds," Jenkins says. "All of these pieces were initially live takes, with just a couple of overdubs and some edits to tighten up the arrangements." Listen to the album cut "Exit Strategy."
Tracklist 01. Divergent 02. Exit Strategy 03. A Future 04. Escape 05. Zones 06. Soar Door 07. Echo Blooms 08. Emerging Ecstatic Recordings will release Zones on July 8th, 2016.
