  • Terence Fixmer will release the Beneath The Skin 12-inch via Ostgut Ton on August 19th. The alliance with the label and agency behind Berghain is just the latest notable co-sign in a 17-year career that's seen Fixmer put out records through International Deejay Gigolo, Speedy J's Electric Deluxe, and most recently, CLR. Fixmer's long worked EBM influences into his techno, and released two collaborative albums with Nitzer Ebb singer Douglas McCarthy (as Fixmer/Mccarthy). Ostgut speaks highly of his innovative approach, saying "it's thanks to people like [Fixmer] that EBM eventually traversed towards contemporary club contexts and now remains a defining part of dance floors in general, or a [Berghain] Klubnacht in particular." The news follows a 2015 Ostgut Ton EP which saw Berghain residents Kobosil, Norman Nodge and Marcel Dettmann remixing Fixmer's 2003 Music Man Records track "Aktion Mekanik Theme." The label says the new four-track EP includes "dark, pounding slaps and discomforting yet soaring synths," as well as acid techno elements and ambient textures. Fixmer will now join the Ostgut booking agency as well, which recently added Vatican Shadow and parted ways with longtime affiliate Marcel Fengler. Listen to clips from Beneath The Skin.
