Numark has released details of the PT01 Scratch, a portable turntable that's built for scratch DJs.
There are a few features that set it apart from other portable turntables. The "non-slip cartridge system" means it can be turned sideways or upside down and the stylus will stay in contact with the record. It also features an adjustable "Scratch Switch," which essentially acts as a crossfader so scratch DJs can control the volume of the channel, as they would with a traditional mixer setup. That, and the fact that it can run on six D batteries, makes the PT01 Scratch a standalone piece of equipment since it requires no computer, no mixer and no external power. Users can also send audio directly to a computer via USB, meaning they can either rip tracks or record scratch routines.
The turntable will be available in October priced at £110.
