- The ten-vinyl pack collects tracks produced under Wolfgang Voigt's influential ambient techno alias between 1995 and 2000.
Kompakt has revealed plans for a comprehensive Gas compilation called Box.
Gas is the hugely influential dub, techno and ambient alias of Wolfgang Voigt, a Kompakt co-founder. He put out a string of releases on Mille Plateaux under the name between 1995 and 2000. A lot of that work fetches a high price in the online marketplace, which makes the upcoming retrospective a timely one.
Due out on October 28th, Box comprises ten slabs of wax and four CDs. Some of the project's best-loved works feature, including albums Zauberberg, Königsforst and Pop, all pressed onto triple vinyl. There's also a reissue of Oktember, a two-track 12-inch originally released in 1999. It's the second major retrospective of Gas works after 2008's CD set Nah Und Fern, which included all four Gas albums (including 1996's self-titled, not included on Box) but not Oktember.
Box has been assembled to mark the 20th anniversary of the release of the second Gas LP, Zauberberg. It will include an art book that features previously unreleased imagery.
