- The Osaka artist has delivered a nine-track tape of experimental "dub and anecdotal pop."
RVNG Intl. has signed Japanese artist 7FO for a release called Water Falls Into A Blank.
Osaka-based musician N. Kawata is the latest to join the New York experimental label's roster. Water Falls Into A Blank is the second installment in the RVNG's Commend See series, which grew from a partnership with NYC record shop and gallery space Commend. The series, which encourages collaborations between artists in different disciplines, launched in April with a joint project between ceramicist and illustrator Jessica Hans and musician RAMZi, AKA Phoebé Guillemot.
Water Falls Into A Blank is a collaboration between Kawata and the Brooklyn-based textile artist Annexe, real name Nick Ozgunay. The cover image, which Ozgunay designed and fabricated, is "a red panda burned to paper, a peaceful keeper of the sounds and sight," the label says. Describing the music itself, they say it's "like diving into a quiet lake: a rejuvenating wash of life that plummets through murky and more curious depths."
