- The 1986 cassette Copeland Keyboard Fantasies is out on vinyl for the first time early next year.
Toronto reissue label Invisible City Editions has announced plans to press up Ontario-based artist Beverly Glenn-Copeland's Copeland Keyboard Fantasies.
Born in Philadelphia, Glenn-Copeland studied at McGill University in Montreal and has resided in Canada for over four decades. Over that time, he's been responsible for a few albums of hushed, folky jazz. The 1986 cassette, Copeland Keyboard Fantasies, caught the ears of Invisible City, AKA Brandon Hocura and Gary Abugan, as Glenn-Copeland recorded it solely using a Yamaha DX7 and Roland TR-707 for a sound that "lies somewhere between digital new-age and (accidentally) early Detroit techno experiments," according to their press release. The LP has been fully restored and remastered and will appear on vinyl for the first time on New Year's Day.
Invisible City just released V.O.'s Mashisa. RA's Aaron Coultate noted Abugan and Hocura seem "genetically predisposed to sniffing out great tunes" in his RA Recommends review of that one.
