  • Partisan Collective are planning to open a new alternative venue in central Manchester. The co-operative group has been based in 3space on Windmill Street since May, hosting local events ranging from music performances and parties to political meetings. They've now launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for a permanent space in the city centre, with DJs such as Lakuti and Tama Sumo showing support. The planned venue will host gigs and parties whose profits will allow independent political and cultural groups to use the space for free. Partisan Collective expect to sign a lease by the end of November if they reach their fundraising goal. The group will host a fundraising event on November 26th at The Old Abbey Inn at Manchester Science Park. The evening includes a discussion about radical nightlife with music writer Dave Haslam and figures from the UK's club scene, followed by a party featuring resident DJs from local nights Meat Free, Arthouse and Elevator. The panel starts at 7:30 PM, with the party running from 9:30 PM through 2 AM. Tickets are free to members (who have pledged on Crowdfunder) and £5 on the door for non-members.
