- A trio of "otherworldly Caribbean electronic dance floor cuts" is on the way.
Rush Hour has announced a Claude Rodap 12-inch called Beletronic.
Not much is known about Rodap. A self-taught musician from Martinique, an island in the French West Indies, he began fusing threads of the region's traditional music (like zouk and gwo ka) with synthesizer sounds more than 30 years ago. He only has one record to his name, the highly sought-after 1982 LP Syn-Ka (also credited to Fregate Orchestra), which was reissued on the new label Granit Records over the summer.
Beletronic features three archival productions that Rush Hour describes as "otherworldly Caribbean electronic dance floor cuts." Rodap recorded them in the '90s and in 2000. They've never been put on vinyl until now.
