Smalltown Supersound will release a new Mr. Tophat EP with vocals from Swedish pop star Robyn.
Mr. Tophat, real name Rudolf Nordström, is known for his chunky, propulsive house tunes which mostly come via the labels he has a hand in—Junk Yard Connections and Karlovak. Robyn, who recently had her music remixed by Nordström, Axel Boman and The Black Madonna, among others, says the Stockholm-based producer, who she has known for nearly a decade, "forced his way into my studio and said, 'We're going to make music now.'"
At the time, she was taking a break from working on her own material, and says "It was really nice for me to be submerged into his world and lose myself in something that wasn’t my own." Abba's original drummer, Per Lindvall, and his brother David also contribute to the record, adding to the Swedish supergroup vibe.
