  • Nina Kraviz has mixed the 91st fabric mix. Due out December 9th, fabric 91 features 41 tracks spanning techno, IDM, ambient and "many disparate facets of acid," with tunes from the likes of Aphex Twin (as AFX), New Composers & Pete Namlook, Unit Moebius, Claude Young and Frak, plus some of her own unreleased music and cuts from her ???? label. "This mix is of course where I am as a DJ and record collector, but it's also where I am as a listener and it's what makes me groove at the moment," Kraviz says. "People call this a brain dance... This mix is a trippy acidic dream with a lot of different emotions along the way. And as it was recorded at different times and places, under different circumstances, it's naturally absorbed all these very different emotions. I've used only completely new unreleased music or rare old tracks, and nothing in between, no current releases. The mix is an invisible bridge between the past and a future that is actually now." Speaking about her experiences playing at fabric, Kraviz said: "It always feels special as an artist to play at fabric and it brings a lot of excitement. Playing in room one is a unique experience because of the unusual DJ booth, where you can hide like a magician and orchestrate the room from there. When the room is full, with the lights blazing, it feels as if you are wired in directly to the dancing crowd." The London club's long-running mix series is still up and running while the venue remains closed. An appeal against Islington council's ruling will be heard by Highbury Magistrates Court on November 28th. The court's decision will determine the future of the much-loved Farringdon nightspot. The launch party for fabric 91 is taking place at Great Suffolk St Warehouse on December 3rd. The event is part of the #Saveourculture event series raising money for fabric's fight to reopen.
