- The Dutch artist's second full-length, inspired by a trip to Thailand, is out now.
Dekmantel has just released Makam's new album, Than Sadet.
It's the second full-length effort for Makam, AKA Dutch house and techno producer Guy Blanken, and it arrives six years after his first, How Long Is Now?. Dekmantel posted initial details about the album earlier in 2016 while issuing a pre-LP sampler record. We now know Than Sadet is a 14-track release inspired by trips the artist has taken to the Than Sadet beach, located on an island in southern Thailand.
"Four years ago I visited Than Sadet for the first time, and I've been coming back ever since," Blanken says. "At one point I decided to bring my studio equipment. For a week, I dedicated my days to making music. Those sketches formed the basis of the album." He adds that Than Sadet "isn't a club record," and describes its sound as "tropical emo mystic dance."
