The first 22 acts have been revealed for the 24th edition of the Barcelona festival, which returns in June.
The 24th edition of the Barcelona festival will go down from June 15th through 17th across two main venues: Fira Montjuïc (Sónar By Day) and Fira Gran Via (Sónar By Night). 22 artists have been confirmed so far, with nighttime slots for live acts like Nicolas Jaar, Moderat, Justice, Fat Freddy's Drop (who will play twice, on Friday and Saturday), Cashmere Cat and hip-hop trio De La Soul. DJ sets will come from Eric Prydz, Nina Kraviz, The Black Madonna, Damian Lazarus and Clams Casino. Resident Advisor will return to Sónar By Night in 2017, taking over the SonarLab stage on Saturday night.
The daytime programme is similarly varied. Amnesia Scanner, Forest Swords, GAIKA and Nosaj Thing, who will perform alongside Japanese multi-disciplinarian Daito Manabe, have been tapped for live shows. There will also be a heavy trap and hip-hop contingent, including the UK's Nadia Rose, rising Spanish duo Kinder Malo & Pimp Flaco and Estonian rapper Tommy Cash.
Sónar+D, the festival's digital industry conference, will now run for an extra day, starting on Wednesday, June 14th. Another two satellite editions have also been confirmed for 2017, with Sónar Istanbul (March 24th, 25th) and Sónar Hong Kong (April 1st) locked in. They join a growing list that includes Buenos Aires, Bogotá and Reykjavík, which will celebrate its fifth edition in February.
