- The 1986 record from Spanish artist Eugenio Muñoz has long been out of print.
The 1986 album from Eugenio Muñoz's Randomize alias, Cómo Se Divertirán Los Insectos, will be reissued in January.
Muñoz is a Spanish keyboardist and studio engineer who began his career in music around four decades ago. A proponent of industrial, experimental and new wave sounds, he's also known by the alias Dr. Flanger and as one half of the duo Mecánica Popular alongside Luis Delgado. (Their 1984 LP Qué Sucede Con El Tiempo was reissued in 2015 on Dead-Cert Home Entertainment.)
Cómo Se Divertirán Los Insectos, originally released on Grabaciones Accidentales, is said to have seen Muñoz "deeply influenced by [Pierre] Schaeffer's writings about musique concréte as well as the ambient, industrial and experimental movements of the time." It's regarded as something of a cult classic from Spain's '80s electronic music scene, but these days it's a rare (and expensive) find on the resale market.
Now the album is getting new life with a repress on Equilibrio, a new sub-label from A Harmless Deed developed in collaboration with Giradiscos that will focus on Spanish ambient and experimental music.
