  • Lucky Seven, a secondhand record shop in Stoke Newington, London, is on the verge of closure. Speaking to local newspaper The Hackney Gazette, the shop's owner, Jason Gore, says he's stepping away from the shop due to an expected hike in rent. "The rent went up by a third in 2009 and if it goes up again there's only one way it's going to go," he said. "I've given it until August and then I'm thinking of calling it quits anyway." Gore says he hopes the spot will remain a record shop under new ownership. "If someone came in with fresh eyes and a bit of capital they could really take it forward," he says. "I'd hope they don't paint it grey." Lucky Seven's bright red, blue and yellow frontage has made it a distinctive part of Church Street, an increasingly well-heeled stretch of Stoke Newington in North London. Inside, secondhand records of all varieties are located on the ground floor and in the basement. The shop featured in RA's Home Listening feature with Bicep, who are Lucky Seven regulars.
