The Iranian-born artist will not play February 18th's Do Not Sleep event at Halcyon in San Francisco.
Syrossian, who is a UK citizen and holds a UK passport, was born in the Iranian capital, Tehran. Iran was one of seven countries issued with a 90-day travel ban by US president Donald Trump on January 27th. Though the ban was halted last week, Syrossian could still face a lengthy vetting process upon arrival on US soil, so instead he's decided to let Canada's Carlo Lio take his place at Halcyon on February 18th. Syrossian was due to headline the California debut of his Do No Sleep party. Lio will now play back-to-back with Nathan Barato for six hours.
"Although I am a British Citizen, passport holder, and the holder of a US work permit, I was born in Tehran," said Syrossian. "Due to the current changing rules surrounding entry allowances, my travel may be subject to serious problems when I arrive in the USA. As such I cannot commit to any bookings in America during this time."
