  • Eventide has a new plug-in. After being revealed at Anaheim's NAMM conference in January, Fission is now available. It's built on a new, patent-pending technology called Structural Effects, which allows you to separate the initial impact of a sound from the smoother tonal content found in its body. Once separated, the different parts of the sound can be processed individually with effects like delay, repitching, tremolo, compression, reverb and so on. You can also solo and mix each element, meaning you could raise the pitch of a kick drum while keeping its transient intact, or remove the transient of a synth stab and process the body in isolation. The Structural Effects engine will be the basis of a new line of Eventide plug-ins. A host of sound designers and artists have been enlisted to create presets, including American Buchla synthesists Suzanne Ciani and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Chris Carter of Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey, leading sound designer Richard Devine and more. Watch a demonstration of Fission.
Eventide Fission is available now at an introductory price of $97. The price will rise to $179 after 45 days.
