Major Problems and Compassion Crew are reissuing Ability II's bleep classic, "Pressure."
"Pressure," which was originally recorded by David Duncan in Leeds and released on Bass-ic in 1990, will come out as part of a three-track EP on Compassion Cuts, a label focusing specifically on restoring and reissuing records with new artwork. The 12-inch has since become a sought-after item on the second-hand market, especially so since 2015 (it last sold for more than €100 in January). It's a spacey, bass-heavy bleep production—according to Duncan, the bass frequencies were severe enough to break the cutting needle during post-production. The likes of Fabio and Grooverider subsequently pushed the record, helping to turn it into a cult classic. The reissue features new artwork and a remix, both by Luca Lozano.
The second release is a reissue of 2-BMW's Don't Tell Me (How Love Should Feel), an obscure, slow-burning piece of garage-inflected soul. Produced by Larry P. Rauson in 1990, it was the sole release on a label called Life Of Luxury. Rauson provides a new mix for the reissue alongside dubs from Compassion Crew and The Man In Bed.
Major Problems also has new music on the way from Design A Wave and DJ Aprés Ski.
