The New York State Liquor Authority has given Cityfox the green light for their venue in Brooklyn.
The Bushwick complex home to Cityfox's outdoor space, Brooklyn Mirage, has proven to be a troubled spot after it was closed last June, due to safety violations cited by the city. As Thump reports, after a long campaign including hearings with the city—and a unanimous recommendation against giving the venue a license by the Greenpoint & Williamsburg Community Board—the Liquor Authority has granted the complex a permit to operate on a permanent basis.
The Swiss promoter says they will use the club for afternoon-into-late-night events (with closing time set for 4:30 AM), as well as corporate parties, art events, filming, photo shoots and other gatherings. They hope to get it up and running within a few weeks.
"We are excited," Cityfox promoter Simar Singh told RA in an email statement. "For the last many months, our team has worked hard to meet requirements and requests of all agencies and local officials while demonstrating our commitment to safety and the community."
"We'll continue the same until doors open, and always afterwards," he added. "We look forward to providing hundreds of jobs, increased local economic activity, and a unique space to host a wide variety of events for Brooklyn. We hope to become an indelible contribution to the thriving cultural landscape of New York City."
