  • Bastl Instruments is releasing a new effects processor called Thyme. Thyme can create classic time-based effects in stereo like delay, phasing, reverb and pitch shifting, but its control set allows users to rapidly shift between them. In Bastl's words, it's a "sequenceable robot-operated digital tape machine." It has controls like Tape Speed and the ability to control the spacing of extra virtual tape heads in addition to Delay Time, Feedback and Filter controls. Each of these parameters can be sequenced by what Bastl call a Robot, which is essentially a complex modulation source that could be an envelope follower, external CV signal, LFO and so forth. A 32 step sequencer can used to sequence between presets, which can be saved on to the eight buttons on the front of the unit. Pricing and availability will be announced in May.
