  • Prince Of Denmark, an alter-ego of the Giegling artist Traumprinz, has come to an end. The news was announced via SoundCloud earlier today when two short mixes hit accounts linked to the anonymous producer. Both sets are called "Untitled" and feature a single track looped eight times. (Eight is a significant number for Prince Of Denmark—it's the title of his 2016 album and most recent release.) One of the accounts, titled Prince Of Denmark Is Dead, has been tagged "Requiem" and comes accompanied by a brief written message, which you can read in full. "The story that I was trying to tell here has been told. It's very last paragraph is about the letting go of something. Beyond that, personally it is both a caring embrace as it is a testament to a ten-year-long chapter at Giegling, that, with all I'm doing, had been coming to an end for me. Times which I feel thankful for, though by waking up from a deep dream, what I can tell now, that over time I must have lost touch with it somehow and finally decided to move on into something unknown. Thank you deeply for what seemed like a wonderful journey to me, we'll meet again." In addition to 8, which came out via Giegling sub-label Forum, Prince Of Denmark released The Body LP in 2013 (also via Forum) and a couple of EPs on Giegling proper. There were also several mixes, including This Is Not... in 2012 and 2014's Live At Planet Uterus. At this stage it's not known what the future holds for Prince Of Denmark's other projects, DJ Metatron and Traumprinz. Read Will Lynch's recent in-depth article on the Planet Giegling tour.
