  • A new 800-capacity club will open in Utrecht in September. WAS is situated in the laundry room of an old warehouse on Tractieweg, in the northwest of the city, and will open one to two nights a month. The club's opening parties will take place in the first weekend of September. The venue, whose music policy will span disco, house, electro and techno, will operate an over-21 entry policy. Veronique De Leon, WAS's head of programming, told Resident Advisor: "We came across the venue a while back and instantly knew we wanted to do something with this place. We want to leave the original construction as intact as possible to maintain the unique character." She added: "The programming will be fully electronic (disco/house/electro/techno-orientated) and will be focussed on extra long sets for the artists to give them the freedom and time to play what they want. Also, my goal is to invite artists that haven't played in Utrecht before or that you don't see here very often. We also want to support the local scene so for each edition I will invite a Utrecht name as a support act."
