  • A new nightclub named XE54 will open in Melbourne next month. The Southbank venue spans four rooms, three bars and two dance floors. Its owner and operator is Roar Projects, the hospitality company behind Melbourne spots Alumbra and Ms Collins. They'll be teaming up with members of the Beyond The Valley crew, who will spearhead the club's bookings and present a weekly Saturday night offering which will commence on XE54's opening night, August 12th. Head booker and promoter Mike Christidis of BTV says the party will cater to "lovers of house, techno and disco," presenting a mix of international and interstate acts alongside a roster of resident DJs and other local names. Taking care of the club's fit-out is Michael Delany of International Worldwide, the creative force behind classic clubs like Honkytonks and Sorry Grandma as well as the recent revamping of The Bottom End. Roar Projects' managing director Simon Digby describes XE54 as having an "industrial meets future technological aesthetic." Further details including launch-month lineups will be revealed in the coming weeks.
