  • A remastered, expanded version of Jon Hassell's Dream Theory In Malaya (Fourth World Volume Two) is out soon on Giltterbeat Records' sublabel tak:til. Hassell's fourth full-length was originally released on Editions EG in 1981 and followed his Brian Eno-assisted breakthrough, Fourth World Vol. 1 - Possible Musics. On Dream Theory in Malaya, Hassell continued to work with Eno, as well as Daniel Lanois and Michael Brook. The tak:til reissue includes a bonus track called "Ordinary Mind" as well as liner notes written by Hassell. Hassell's idea of creating "fourth world" music for "unknown and imaginary regions" remains influential. Andy Beta traced Hassell's ongoing impact on today's producers in a recent feature for RA. Listen to our 2015 RA Exchange podcast with Hassell.
