  • A lobby group of club and bar venues in Ibiza has called for stricter measures against illegal parties. According to Diario De Ibiza, the Leisure Association Of Ibiza (or La Asociación Ocio De Ibiza), whose 27 members include DC-10, Ushuaïa, Blue Marlin Ibiza, Pikes and Hï Ibiza, has demanded "greater hardship" for unlicensed events. In most cases these are large-scale villa parties. The association's manager, José Luis Benítez, described the parties as "a lucrative business that upholds the idea of Ibiza as a chaotic place, a place of prostitution and drugs. It's time to end this harmful image that's repeated every summer." In a statement addressed to San José council yesterday, the association said fines totalling €84,000 (£76,338) had been collected from homeowners hosting illegal gatherings. The most common complaints are for noise disturbance and untaxed revenue. Resident Advisor has reached out to San José council for comment.
